Geographically Turkey forms a bridge between Asia and

civilizations such as Hittites, Lykens, Romans, Greeks,
Seljuk and Ottoman Turks, all of whom have left eternal
monuments still visible and convincing.
Turkey, with its 300.000 square miles of territories, is
the one of the largest in Europe. Turkish youth,
consisting 60% of the country’s approximately 70 million
population, is the true follower of the fundamentals and
the reformations of Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK who is the
founder of young Turkish Republic, also symbolizes the
dynamic future of Turkey. Its fast growing industrial
and agricultural resources enhance Turkey’s hopes for
more prosperous time to come. Having 99% of Muslim
population, its democratic and secular administration
backs Turkey to utilize the assets of the modern way of
life of the west as well as the exceptional virtues of
the east.
Turkey
has 380 technical schools and approximately 78 universities comprising 430
faculties. More than 1.500.000 students are attending at the universities.

Rotary in Turkey
has a past over 50 years. The first club was established in
Ankara, capital of
Turkey, in 1954. From then on, especially after
1980, upon the formation of the district organization the number of Rotary Clubs
have reached to 250 and the membership over 8.000.

Rotary is active as three districts (2420, 2430, 2440) in
Turkey. Turkish Rotarians are endeavoring to
successful practices in all programs of Rotary International. Rotaract Clubs
have reached to 120 with more than 2.000 members. Also there are 54 interacts
clubs, having more than 900 members.
